Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetes is the epidemic of the 21st century and the biggest challenge confronting Australia’s health system.

Your feet are at risk because diabetes can cause damage to the nerves in your feet, blood circulation and infection.

Having diabetes can increase your risk of foot ulcers and amputations. Diabetes Australia recommends that people with diabetes should have there feet checked annually by a Podiatrist.

We regularly perform Diabetic Foot Screenings to assess the risk of diabetic foot complications.

If you have diabetes you should:

  • Check your feet daily for any sores
  • Clean your feet with warm soapy water every day
  • Thoroughly dry in between the toes
  • Cream your feet to prevent any cracking
  • Wear closed in, stable shoes
  • See a podiatrist if there are any cuts, sores, swelling, redness or anything out of the ordinary
